Opportunities for
Licensed Massage Therapists
Healing Hands is always searching for talented, bright licensed massage therapists who share our values, care, and enthusiasm. As a motivator for attracting the most talented massage therapists in the Charleston area, we offer a generous commission pay structure for our therapists as independent massage contractors.
About Us
Healing Hands has many aspects that make us unique. Our focus is on the well being of our clients, in a holistic sense. We offer some spa services and pride ourselves on highly relaxing massages, but we are not your typical spa. We are also far less clinical than a massage room in most medical professional's offices. We focus on the relaxation as a part of the well being of each individual, as we believe that all is interconnected.
Many of our clients choose to be silent during massage, and some fall asleep. Still others prefer to talk; about their stressors in their lives, about their health issues, or just about their families or other interests. Healing Hands massage therapists are empathetic listeners and let our clients talk if they need to, so they feel heard.
In addition to massage and certain spa services, we also offer Reiki. We are especially seeking LMTs who are Reiki level 2 or above to offer our signature Reiki-ssage to our clients in addition to regular Reiki sessions. We believe that these less common offerings help our clients to heal mind, body, and soul that much easier than massage alone. Not all of our LMTs are Reiki practitioners, but we are able to offer a slightly higher starting pay rate for those who are (for those who have not yet studied Reiki but are interested in doing so, please contact Jenni who offers training for all levels of Reiki practice).
Our Office Structure
Another unusual aspect of Healing Hands is our office structure. We are very small with only one treatment room. We share a small building with a chiropractor - a separate business - and so do not have the daily volume needed to use a receptionist. As such, we require our LMTs to be very hands on, and a bit of Jack-of-all-trades. One of the reasons we are able to pay a higher rate than most massage studios is because our therapists are expected to work a bit more for each client they see.
For any typical day, our massage therapist(s) on duty are required to unlock the building if arriving before the chiropractor we share space with, turn on the lights, adjust thermostat if needed, and set up the treatment room. This includes providing your own sheets, which we prefer to be the natural cream color or another neutral color that does not show oil staining as quickly as white and is more soothing to the eye than brighter colors or patterns.
Our therapists are responsible for their own schedules, and for blocking themselves off in the online appointment system if they are unavailable. They are responsible for ensuring that they check their online schedule regularly, so they are always aware of when they are booked. Each therapist is responsible for greeting each client upon arrival, having an intake form filled out for new clients, and entering information into our online appointment system database. Basic typing and computer skills are required, with strong attention to detail during data entry. We also require our therapists to take payment from each client and maintain strict records regarding payment. Healing Hands has very user friendly systems for both the appointment system and the credit card processing system.
After completing checkout, we require our therapists to break down their room and leave it at least as clean and tidy (if not more so!) as it was upon arrival. We also share general duties with the chiropractor we share the buiding with for the common areas (bathroom, waiting room, and back office). These include tasks like tidying the bathroom, taking out trash, and occasionally vacuuming floors. All of our therapists pitch in on these, so very little is asked of each therapist if everyone does his/her share!
We try to operate like a family. Healing Hands encourages our therapists to arrange trades for each other during off-peak times (clients' massages always come first). Not only does this help our therapists to stay more relaxed, but it also helps us to learn from one another! It also helps comeraderie, so that if you work a couples' massage or off-site event together, you have already gotten to know each other.
An additional benefit Healing Hands offers that is unusual is room rental for our dedicated therapists. If you have a client of your own you would like to bring into our office, you may rent our room if it is not already in use for a small fee. Your personal clients are your own, and ours are our own. We will never contact your personal clients to sell our services, and we ask the same in return.
Because Anna, our owner, is a LMT herself, she understands the rigors of performing multiple massages and is extremely understanding during times of fatigue, injury, etc. We are NOT a cookie-cutter outfit like the chain places popping up in the area, and plan to stay that way! We custom tailor each massage to the individual, and we equally treat our LMTs as individuals with unique needs. We pride ourselves on caring about one another, and find this an intregal part of our business.
Is this you?
If all of the above sounds like a good fit for you, please let us know! We would love to hear from you, with why you'd like to join our team, why you feel you'd be a great asset to Healing Hands, along with a full resume. Please include your LMT# either on your resume or in the body of your email. We look forward to hearing from you!
